Choreography & creative collaboration
Movement that belongs to your work.
You may have a piece of music looking for a physical response, a film that needs choreography, or a circus act that is ready for a fresh perspective. I’m Anastasia Evsigneeva, a Montréal-based contemporary dance and circus artist. I work with musicians, filmmakers, dancers and circus performers to develop choreography and give existing work the attention it needs.
Our starting point is your artistic intention: what you want to communicate, what you have already discovered, and where you would like the work to go.

An outside eye for your dance or circus work
When you are creating and performing a piece yourself, it can be difficult to see how it reads from the audience. I can offer feedback on your existing choreography or act, help you examine its structure, and work with you on movement choices, transitions and performance quality.
The process takes your own style, skills and preferences seriously. We can focus on a particular question or develop the work through a broader collaboration. Tell me what stage you are at and what kind of support would be most useful.
Choreography for musicians and live performance
If you are a musician looking to bring a physical dimension to your music, I can create choreography for your piece and perform it as part of your event. The movement can draw on contemporary dance, contortion and the relationship between sound, body and space.
We will discuss the music, setting and feeling of the event, along with the practical conditions for performance, before shaping the work.
See a previous collaboration with Winnipeg electro-alternative musician Rayannah in the music video Nos Repaires.

Choreography and performance for film
I collaborate with filmmakers as a dancer and choreographer, developing movement in dialogue with the director’s ideas. This may mean creating a choreographic sequence, finding a physical language for a character or image, or performing movement made specifically for the project.
Share your treatment, music or visual references, the role you have in mind, and your filming schedule. An early concept is welcome; you do not need a finished proposal to start a conversation.
Original creation and artistic collaboration
Some projects begin between disciplines. Moving Roots is a place for those encounters: dance and circus meeting music, visual art, film and another artist’s way of thinking.
You can commission choreography, propose a shared creation, or enquire about presenting an existing work. The scope, collaborators, availability and fee are discussed for each project.
Wedding first-dance choreography
I also create first-dance choreography for couples. We can work with your chosen music, comfort with movement and the atmosphere you want to share, so the dance feels personal and possible for both of you.
Include your wedding date, location and any ideas you already have when you get in touch.

Vices Versus Virtues & Vice Versa
Contemporary circus research with Lorenzo Serafino, bringing contortion, hair suspension and contemporary dance into dialogue with Dante’s Inferno.

A short dance film with animation, created by Leesa Streifler and Anastasia Evsigneeva, exploring aging, feminine identity and the relationship between youth and elderhood.
How we begin
- Share your idea. Tell me about the project, location, timeline and the role you would like me to play. References or a rehearsal-video link can help, but are not required.
- Discuss the fit. We clarify your intentions, the scope of the collaboration and whether our availability aligns.
- Agree on the work. The fee and practical arrangements are agreed before the project begins.
